Tigers vs. Royals  

South Pasadena destroyed the Oak Avenue Royals last Thursday, May 3rd. The Tiger’s redeemed themselves after their loss to Huntington Middle School and swept Oak Ave off their feet in only two sets. The scores were 25-17 and 25-10.

 

The Tigers quickly gained a lead after an ace from Aidan Hilger. That was then followed by multiple free balls, in which the Tigers won. A great play after a miss block allowed the Tigers to take a 8-4 lead. A lift from the Tigers gave Oak Ave the ball but they were able to quickly gain it back after a kill from Tony Rodz. A great rally gave South Pas a 17-7 lead and the Royals(Oak Avenue team) quickly called a timeout. After getting out-scored 10-7, the Tigers quickly came back and ended the set. The final score of the set was 25-17.

 

The second set started off with a bang, after a kill from Jake Woo. The Tigers took a 9-5 lead, after two consecutive kills from Grant Huntley. Huntley then went on a 7 point serving run. A miss hit gave the Royals the ball, but a miss serve quickly gave South Pas the ball back. A 9 point serving run from Garrett Haley gave the Tigers a 23-8 lead. The final point of the set was a jump serve from Aidan Hilger that the Royals were unable to return.

 

The Tigers next game is on May 15. Come support your Tigers in their first playoff game of the season!
