This year, our musical cast brought us back to the 1960’s in the time of segregation and racial integration. Despite the oppression, Hairspray introduced a sensational and fun loving story about 17 year old Tracy Turnblad and her journey into the spotlight. Tracy’s dream is to dance on The Corny Collins Show, a local T.V. show. She meets several characters on her way that spark her inspiration for campaigning social change.
Tracy Turnblad was performed impeccably by Ava Page, Audrey Reynolds, and Sofia Kieser who all showed Tracy’s true personality through their flawless singing and exquisite acting. Lainee Irribarren, Sequoia Ding, and Kiera Grace transformed themselves into Tracy’s best friend, Penny Pingleton, with their peppy and fun filled charisma. Aidan Donnelly, Andrew Kowal, and Nicholas Philipson took on the role of Link Larkin, Tracy’s stolen lover. They established Link’s admirable character using their talented and commendable voices. Amber Von Tussle, Tracy’s enemy, was perfectly represented through the acting of JoJo Foley, Julia Shadmon, and Caroline Quinones.
From the actors to the stage crew, everyone put in their best effort to put on a show-stopping production. The casts performed six spectacular shows, leaving the audience in awe.
