Hairspray- The Musical

Every year, the South Pasadena Middle School holds a musical starring the schools students. In the past year, it was directed by the schools drama teacher, but this year is different. The musical is being directed by a company called Broadway Locker Jr.. The company has put in new lights, cleaned out the theatre, and has given the arts a new start. Once the company had made an open stage for kids to work on, everyone got started to bring Hairspray alive. Students on stage crew, lighting, costume, and more all learned new things to bring to the stage. The kids backstage may not be the ones seen, but they are the ones that brings everything alive. Everyone apart of the production crew has been working hard since before the auditions, and it shows. The sets look great, and with the cast close to being off-book (are not reading from their script), this years musical is sure to be a great success. With Opening Night closing in fast, the cast has now been put into overdrive with rehearsal everyday until 8 p.m., which is known to everyone part of the Musical as “Hell Week”.  Though it brings students hell, it's all worth it in the long run to put on a great show.
