All About Electives!

What is your elective? Some people choose the wheel because they are indecisive of what they want do, so they let the school decide for them. Some people have strong opinions of what elective they are going to do throughout the year. One of the elective choices is Tiger Cub News. Jeremy Bruce said, “I am in Tiger Cub News because I like that it is something new to experience.” Another elective choice is Office Aid. Audrey Omidi, one of the Office’s student staffers, said, “I chose to be an Office Aid because I wanted to work in the office and learn responsibility and organization skills. I think that it is really fun because I get to help all of the staff members in the office who work really hard.” There are a lot of other electives, but one of the few art related electives is choir. Keira Adams, a sixth grader in choir, said, “I chose choir because I like to sing and it's fun to learn new songs.” We have all kinds of electives here at SPMS; we have some involving art, music, and drama but we also have STEAM as one of the options. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. Ruth Schmidt is one of the STEAM students here at SPMS and she said, “I chose STEAM because I wanted to get the certificate that you get when you do three years of this class. I think that it is a really fun experience because you do something new every week.” Despite all of the choices, we didn’t fail to get a variety of students in each class.
